Tonight as I was looking blankly at my agenda and all of the assignments that I have to accomplish in the next little while I decided I needed to find some inspiration. I went for a walk around the neighbourhood (which is new to me as I am house sitting and am used to walking at the farm) I tried to forget everything that was on my mind and focus on my foot steps, the smell, the sounds around me and the way I felt... relaxed! It was a beautiful night and I highly recommend all of you take a break from homework and either go for a walk or simply just be outside! It's a relief and makes concentrating a whole lot easier.
Fresh air and being outside is crucial for children to learn and grow! So let's learn with our children and teach them outside!
This reminded me of a tweet I recently just retweeted. It shows what a students brain would look like taking the same test, one shows the brain activity after sitting quietly and the other shows the brain activity after a 20 minute walk. Needless to say the brain is working much more actively in the second picture, after having some physical activity. This is solid proof of just how important it is to give our students a chance to move. Not only is it good for their physical health but also beneficial for their minds.
